Ritz Carlton Bukit Bintang Buffet Breakfast

KL Ritz buffet breakfast

Last visited August 22nd, 2023

The Ritz Carlton in Bukit Bintang might just be my favorite place for breakfast in all of Kuala Lumpur.

The food is top-notch, the dining experience is fantastic and the price is more affordable than some other nearby options.

I’ve eaten breakfast at the Ritz twice so far and both times it was a great experience and well worth the money.

Let’s jump into the details so that you know exactly what to expect if you decide to go there for their great buffet breakfast.

Price

The price of the buffet breakfast at the Ritz Carlton in Kuala Lumpur is 75.40rm per person including service and tax.

Personally, I think that’s a good deal considering the quality of the food and service that they offer.

I’ve also covered the nearby Marriott and Westin hotel buffet breakfasts, so if you want to know how they compare you can check those out after this article.

All of these hotels are within about a 5-minute walk from each other in the upmarket area of Bukit Bintang beside the Pavilion shopping mall.

Spoiler alert: In my opinion, the Ritz Carlton buffet breakfast is the best of these three.

This article is not sponsored, this is my honest opinion as of the time of writing.

All three are great, but until I see evidence that changes my mind, the Ritz is where I’ll be going for breakfast when I want great food for a reasonable price.

Location

Set back slightly from the main busy road that passes by Pavilion Bukit Bintang, the Ritz Carlton is still very conveniently located, but feels like it’s slightly hidden away from the traffic and crowds.

If you’re walking from the Bukit Bintang MRT or Monorail station, you’ll need to turn right and then you’ll see the Ritz Carlton hotel on your left as you walk 100m down Jalan Bukit Bintang.

Dining Room

The Ritz Carlton buffet breakfast is in the “Cobalt Room” on level 1.

Once inside the hotel, take the escalator on the left side of the lobby up one level and then turn left and left and you’ll be looking at the entrance to the breakfast buffet.

The room itself is swish.

It feels regal and slightly heritage-era, but also contemporary and modern. The comfortable brown leather couches all the way around, with the dark wooden furnishings feel like they have been there for a long time, yet there are no signs of wear and tear.

An exquisite dining experience in my opinion.

The service is also great. Every time I’ve been there for breakfast, the staff have been friendly and helpful.

Food Options

There are a few areas where I think things could be improved, but overall, there’s something for everyone.

  • Malay cuisine
  • Indian cuisine
  • Chinese cuisine
  • Arabic cuisine
  • Western cuisine

I can’t really fault what they offer because it’s all very nice.

But if you asked me what they don’t have or what could be better, I would say:

  • I would like to see a wider selection of fruit, especially some of the local fruit options
  • I would like to see more fish options besides just the smoked salmon in the salad bar
  • I would like the birched muesli to be a self-serve bowl instead of a pre-served small glass (I eat a lot of this stuff!
  • The dim sum is quite disappointing if you’re a dim sim enthusiast. It’s halal and the options are limited.

I can live with all of these “shortcomings” and still be very happy with the breakfast.

The food is very good, but just letting you know that if you’re hoping for world-class dim sum, this probably isn’t the place you want to go for breakfast.

Drinks

The Ritz buffet breakfast comes with unlimited:

  • Infused water
  • A range of coffees
  • A range of teas
  • A range of freshly squeezed juice
  • Smoothies (Honeydew when I’ve been there)

One thing that I think could be improved is that the coffee seems to come from an automated coffee machine.

It’s not a big deal, but I think if every cup was made by a real barista, that would elevate the whole experience and be a nice touch.

Review

I give the Ritz Carlton buffet breakfast an 8.5/10. The food is fantastic, the experience is great and the price is reasonable.

Compared to other options in this part of Kuala Lumpur, I think the Ritz is probably the best choice for breakfast.

There are a few areas that I think could be slightly better. But to be honest, I’m nit-picking and I think almost everyone will be satisfied with the range and quality of food available.

If you would like to see what I thought of the nearby Marriot or Westin hotel buffet breakfasts, you can check out both of my reviews after this one.

Opening Hours

The buffet breakfast at the Ritz starts at 6:30am and finishes at 10:30am.

It’s usually busiest between 9am and 10am, so keep that in mind if you want to avoid the crowd.
Also, I would recommend that you arrive at least an hour before they close to give yourself plenty of time to try a range of different things and enjoy the beautiful setting, without feeling rushed.
