Four Points Sheraton Hotel Tung Chung (Review)

The Four Points Hotel in Tung Chung, HK photographed from across the road at night.

Conveniently located near the airport and expo, the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton shares the same building complex as the Sheraton Hotel, but is the more affordable option.

The hotel is great and the location is suitable if you want to be near the airport, the expo center or Tung Chung, but it’s probably not the best location if you want to explore Hong Kong while visiting.

Let’s dive in…

Facilities

I was disappointed to learn that there was no gym in the Four Points property, but a one-day gym pass could be purchased for around $30 USD to go to the gym at the adjacent Sheraton Hotel.

That was my only disappointment, and everything else about the property was pleasant.

Breakfast was what you would expect, the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable and the staff were helpful.

Price

As we were there to attend an expo, we got a discounted rate. Well, at least I think we did anyway.

The expo listed the Four Points Hotel as one of the partner hotels that were offering attendees a discounted rate, so we booked through their link.

We paid around $125 for a King room with a “city view”.

Later, while checking the prices on popular booking apps, I think the price was similar. So I’m really not sure if we got a good deal or if we just paid the normal price.

Either way, I think it’s a good place to stay for the price.

Getting there

If you’re coming from the airport, the hotel has regular buses running from the terminal to the hotel and back. When we left to fly out at the end of our stay, that’s how we got to the airport.

We didn’t fly into Hong Kong before arriving at the hotel. I had just been to the Canton Fair in Guangzhou and took the train from mainland China to Hong Kong.

It’s quite easy to get to Tung Chung MTR station by train and when you arrive at Tung Chung the hotel has regular shuttle buses running too.

You could also walk to the hotel from Tung Chung station and that would probably only take about 10 or 15 minutes.

King room with “City view”

I thought this was pretty funny because I know for a fact that you can’t see the main part of Hong Kong city from the location of the hotel.

I opened the curtains and yep, as expected, there was no stunning Hong Kong island skyline.

Just be aware that if you’re hoping to have a beautiful view of the famous Hong Kong skyline, this isn’t the place to stay.

Eating options

The buffet breakfast at the hotel was fine. Not the incredible 5-star spread you might get next door, but certainly good enough.

There are several restaurants and food outlets across the road and in the area connected to the Sheraton Hotel, so you won’t go hungry if you stay here.

Expo transport

The hotel made it very easy to get to and from the expo, which is only about 10 minutes away.

They arranged regular shuttle buses in the morning and afternoon. It was a really nice touch and took the stress out of needing to figure out that part of the trip.

Getting to Hong Kong island

To get from the hotel to Hong Kong Island, you could either take a taxi or train from Tung Chung station.

As mentioned, there are shuttle buses between the hotel and the MTR station at Tung Chung, so that’s pretty easy.

Pros and Cons

Your reasons for travel might be different from mine, but in my opinion, the not-so-great things about the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton were:

  • Location (if you want to explore Hong Kong as a regular tourist)
  • No gym at the property
  • “City view” may not meet your expectations

On the positive side, I liked:

  • Location (if you want to be near the expo or the airport)
  • Hotel comfort and cleanliness
  • Value for money

Review

I rate the Four Points by Sheraton at Tung Chung highly and will likely stay there again next time we travel to Hong Kong for an expo.

I might also consider the Four Points for the last night of our stay if we travel for other reasons and want to enjoy the rest of Hong Kong. It could make it easier and less stressful to get to the airport, especially if you have an early flight.
