The museum houses a range of artefacts of Malaysia, and provides an overview of Malaysian history. <\/p>\n\n\n\nIt also houses tableaux of traditional events such as weddings, festivals and costumes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>National Monument <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nErected in 1966, the National Monument commemorates those who died in WW2 in the struggle for freedom, particularly during the Japanese Occupation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s a great historic piece, so make sure to snap some pictures with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>National Mosque<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nNo matter if you’re just a tourist or a worshipper, this Mosque is beautiful by anyone’s standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, non-Muslim tourists are only allowed to visit at certain times of the day, and make sure you dress appropriately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Thean Hou Temple<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nAnother religious site, this colourful temple is a must-see for any visitor. It’s noticeably bigger than most temples, and is a lot grander, with lots of intricate carvings and symbolism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Atmosphere 360, KL Tower<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nA restaurant and a place to sightsee all in one, Atmosphere 360 is on top of KL Tower, a revolving restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This place can be a little pricey, but the sights are definitely worth it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>KLCC Petronas Twin Towers<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nThe Twin Towers are one of the most recognizable things about KL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Located in the city center next to a ton of great shopping centres, this is a great place to spend the day, take some great photos and get some souvenirs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
You can also take your little ones up to the top of one of the towers for some views they will never forget – but be sure to book in advance because you will often be turned away if you try to go up on spot. Spaces are limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Places to go if you’re… a nature person <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/span>KL Bird Park<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nCome to the KL Bird Park to see magnificent tropical birds in their natural habitats. Set amongst lush greenery that evokes the sensation of being in a real jungle, don’t forget to take the classic photo with real live birds sitting calmly on your hands and all around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>KLCC Aquaria <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nKLCC Aquaria is located in the city center, in KL Convention Center. With amazing displays such as giant sea turtles, shark walks, and iridescent jellyfish, there’s something here to please both adults and children, regardless of age. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>KL Butterfly Park<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nWant to see butterflies up close and personal? If you’re intrigued by the beauty of these insects, look no further than the KL Butterfly Park, which is the largest in the world and houses almost 5000 butterfly species. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a bonus, the setting for these butterflies is a beautiful orchid garden, which will keep you divided on which is more beautiful- the garden or the butterflies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Cameron Highlands<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nKnown for their fresh produce and clean air, Cameron Highlands is probably one of the coolest (temperature-wise) places in Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s not exactly in KL, it\u2019s a couple of hours drive away – if you’re visiting in the rainy season, be careful, because it can be quite slippery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s also quite famous for its fresh produce and vegetables, with luscious strawberries comparable to those from overseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Broga Hill<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nThis one is quite a hike to get to, so make sure you go an hour or so before the sun rises, and wear proper shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you manage to make it to the top before the sun rises, you’ll be rewarded with a lovely view of nature and the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once you climb down, you’ll be able to reward yourself with a freshly chilled coconut or even some breakfast as the stalls at the bottom of the hill open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Zoo Negara <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nAny animal lover should definitely visit the zoo, and if you get there quick, you might be able to catch a glimpse of our pandas, gifted to us by China. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are definitely a myriad of animals to interest you, including some tropical birds and creatures native only to Malaysia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Perdana Lake Gardens<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nThis is Malaysia’s largest recreational park, located right in the city and filled with beautiful greenery. If you’re tired of looking at buildings and getting lost in the concrete jungle, try here instead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Places to go if you’re… looking for a wardrobe change<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/span>Shopping in Bukit Bintang<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nBukit Bintang is home to many amazing shops, such as high end fashion, to more affordable stores squirrelled away in corners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asian fashion rules here, so if you want to spice up your look, you don’t need to go any further- Pavilion and KLCC are the best places to hunt for designer brands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Places to go if you’re… a thrill-seeker <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/span>Sunway Lagoon<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nSunway Lagoon is Malaysia’s biggest water park and theme park, so be ready to spend an entire day here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are roller-coasters and massive slides to please everyone, and in the adjacent Sunway Pyramid, there’s even an ice-rink for you to cool down if it gets too hot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Genting Resort World<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nGenting Resort World is for those who want to stake a little more than their lives on the line- their money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Only those who are 21 years of age and above can enter, and those who are not of the Muslim faith. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Besides that, there are some great hotels to stay in, an amusement park, and plenty of shopping to keep you entertained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The views are also unmissable- wonderful greenery and mountains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>Escape Room<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nIf you have a group of friends or even a family of four to five people, then going to any one of the escape rooms in KL should be quite fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some of the experiences can be scary, but overall quite fun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/span>FRIM Canopy Walk<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\nThis is just outside KL, and is a suspended bridge walk in a lush, rainforested area. This allows you to experience a forest first hand without having to travel too far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
